T06 · Document the actual path

Ethernet markings versus port and PoE capability

An 8P8C-style outline or cable category marking does not identify an Ethernet service or power role. Separate exact port function, the data path and any PoE requirement.

What does the exact equipment documentation establish?

Unknown is a useful answer. Yes means you have the relevant model/port/product statement; it does not mean this site verified your equipment.

Read port labels and the exact device manual. The cited console cable demonstrates that the same broad modular outline can carry another service.

Record cable identity and link target; read injector/switch limits instead of assigning the endpoints’ maximum to the whole path.

Choose No only for a data-only task. Unknown leaves the power requirement unresolved.

Apply only when poe required is yes.

Read exact device/port PoE tables and any injector diagram. The TL-POE160S example has a particular data-in versus power-plus-data-out topology.

The next step is a specific documentation check.

  • Read port labels and the exact device manual. The cited console cable demonstrates that the same broad modular outline can carry another service.
  • Record cable identity and link target; read injector/switch limits instead of assigning the endpoints’ maximum to the whole path.
  • Choose No only for a data-only task. Unknown leaves the power requirement unresolved.

Documentation declarations only; no physical test, negotiated mode, delivered power, safe mating, pinout or compatibility approval. 3 missing prerequisites; 0 recorded conflicts.

T06-S1 · Supported within the stated documentation scope

One named PoE access point on a documented PoE+ port

Document a single U6+ powered data connection in normal switch mode.

PoE+ PSE ports 1-4
TP-Link TL-SG1005P V5 M05-21
PoE powered device
Ubiquiti U6+ M05-22
1m Cat6 copper patch cable
StarTech N6PATC1MBK M05-25
Keep these conditions
  • Use TL-SG1005P V5 ports1-4 with its specified PSU; normal mode, healthy identified patch cable, one PD and known remaining budget.
  • Do not replace standard PoE negotiation with passive power or extend-mode assumptions.
  • TP-Link lists af/at PSE ports, 30W per port and65W aggregate; Ubiquiti lists PoE and9W maximum for U6+. M05-21 · M05-22
  • N6PATC1MBK is an exact 1m copper Cat6 patch cord, not a source of power or faster endpoint features. M05-25

Supported within the stated documentation scope: The documented powered-device/PSE roles and the stated one-device budget support this scoped documentation path. The link’s negotiated rate and delivered power have not been observed.

Next check: Record the actual PSE port, switch revision, other loads and cable before treating the installation record as complete.

Documentation scope only. This is not a hardware test, detected device state, pinout, electrical replacement approval or guarantee for another product/revision.

T06-S2 · The proposed path disagrees with the documentation

Cat6 does not remove Extend Mode’s documented speed limit

Request a Gigabit uplink while port 1 or 2 is in Extend Mode.

PoE+ PSE ports 1-4
TP-Link TL-SG1005P V5 M05-21
PoE powered device
Ubiquiti U6+ M05-22
1m Cat6 copper patch cable
StarTech N6PATC1MBK M05-25
Keep these conditions
  • This example explicitly enables Extend Mode on a documented affected port.
  • TP-Link’s selected-version footnote reduces Extend Mode ports to10Mbps. Cat6 cable construction does not override that switch-mode restriction. M05-21 · M05-25

The proposed path disagrees with the documentation: The requested Gigabit data mode contradicts the selected switch setting, irrespective of the cable category marking.

Next check: Read the exact switch mode and requirements before interpreting the Ethernet cable label as an end-to-end rate.

Documentation scope only. This is not a hardware test, detected device state, pinout, electrical replacement approval or guarantee for another product/revision.

T06-S3 · Specific information is still missing

PoE per-port support is not an aggregate budget

Determine whether an additional U7 Pro can be powered with other unknown PoE loads.

52W aggregate PoE PSE
Ubiquiti USW-Lite-8-PoE M05-24
PoE+ powered device
Ubiquiti U7 Pro M05-23
1m Cat6 copper patch cable
StarTech N6PATC1MBK M05-25
Keep these conditions
  • The number and maximum requirements of existing powered devices have not been recorded.
  • The switch lists52W total PoE availability and GbE ports; the U7 Pro lists PoE+ and21W maximum with a1/2.5GbE interface. M05-24 · M05-23

Specific information is still missing: The PSE/PD class alone does not settle the remaining power budget. The switch also does not acquire 2.5 GbE ports from the access point or Cat6 label.

Still needed:

  • Existing PoE load inventory and available aggregate budget
  • Actual cable/port condition and negotiated data rate

Next check: Inventory the actual PoE loads and operating requirements, then evaluate aggregate and per-port limits separately.
