Display question

Which DVI pinout view am I looking at?

Keep receptacle-front orientation, digital-only and integrated assignments, and device-specific labels separate.

The answer

Short answer Check whether the diagram shows the socket face or the plug face: they are mirror images.

Use the numbered source view, not an unlabeled sketch. The reference uses the receptacle mating-face view; the opposing plug-front view is mirrored and must not be read as a solder-side map.

Why the simple answer is not enough

Keep the evidence layers separate

1Reasoning step

Molex labels its combined connector illustration as the receptacle front view. DDWG supplies distinct receptacle and plug figures. The numbered grid and blade orientation must stay attached to a contact table.

2Reasoning step

The digital-only and combined DDWG tables differ: position 8 is not connected in the digital-only reference but is analog vertical sync in the combined reference. C1–C5 belong to the combined analog group.

3Reasoning step

An exact product’s manual may document unused positions or different labels. Dell’s SE2416HM table is retained as device evidence, not used to rewrite the standard’s connector assignment.

4Reasoning step

A supply-related signal name in a source is not an instruction to apply power. No PCB footprint, solder-terminal order or fabrication dimension is provided by these pages.

Scroll horizontally on narrow screens. Rows paraphrase the cited interface tables and view captions. These are not instructions to probe, energize, modify or manufacture a connector.

What to check next

  1. Read the source caption: receptacle front, plug front, rear or board side.
  2. Check whether the document describes digital-only or combined DVI.
  3. Retain the exact device or component model and revision.
  4. Stop if the view or terminal identity is uncertain; do not infer a wiring instruction.

Question pages do not create compatibility verdicts.

They reorganize facts and uncertainty already represented in the atlas. Exact-device, cable, protocol, power, safety and performance requirements remain separate where the evidence says they are separate.
