6.35 mm TRS connector

A 6.35 mm TRS plug has three conductive sections; the equipment determines their function.

Also called quarter inch TRS 6.35mm stereo balanced TRS

TRS is not a universal synonym for stereo.

Look for

Compare the two insulating bands with the TS form. Use the connector as an identifier, then consult the exact signal assignment.

Pins & wiring

Pinout

Choose the exact wiring. Pin numbers follow its stated view; a schematic does not establish physical positions. Check your exact device before wiring.

What the status labels mean
Confirmed
Recorded research passes agree within this variant; this is not independent human review or hardware validation.
Single source
Only one underlying document, or one pass, supports this assignment.
Device-specific
Supported for the named equipment or wiring only. Check your device’s manual.
Unverified
Missing or conflicting evidence. Do not wire from this row.
Not connected
The source explicitly says NC, no contact or no pin for this wiring.

What the drawing does not prove

Band counts are documented; no geometric scale or wiring assignment.

The instrument or balanced-audio role depends on the equipment, not just the plug.

No fabrication dimensions, conductor routing, guaranteed fit or device approval. For electrical, power and optical interfaces, follow the original equipment instructions.

The useful distinction

Is a TRS socket for headphones or balanced line audio?

Read the equipment role, not just the three sections. On the Solo 4th Gen, the headphone output and balanced line outputs use TRS connections for different jobs. C022A · C022E

Component or signal: documented distinction and remaining check
CheckDocumented distinctionWhat this does not establish
ComponentNP3X is a three-pole quarter-inch plug. C022AA plug specification does not assign left/right channels, signal level or an input/output role.
Headphone exampleThe Solo 4th Gen has a 6.35 mm TRS headphone output. C022EIdentify the headphone socket rather than treating every quarter-inch output as the same endpoint.
Line-output exampleIts balanced line outputs 1 and 2 serve an amplifier or active monitors. C022EDo not infer that one balanced line jack carries a stereo headphone feed.

Keep this limit: The connector’s contact names and nominal size do not prove balanced, stereo, microphone or speaker service. C022A · C022E

Before choosing the cable or component

  1. Read the port name and input/output role in the exact equipment manual.
  2. Check whether the destination expects headphones, line audio or another documented signal.
  3. Use the cable specification for that equipment pair; do not infer a universal TRS wiring map.

SOURCE-QUALIFIED AUDIO REFERENCE

Separate contact count from equipment role.

Neutrik NP3X

Role
Male cable plug; straight cable exit
Contacts
Three sections; panel C names Tip, Ring and Shield.
Meaning
The named drawing labels a 6.29 mm shaft. Three sections do not specify stereo or balanced use.
Not established
Channel mapping, balancing, current capability and fit with an unspecified socket remain unknown.
Next check
Identify both equipment ports and consult their signal assignments, not only the plug bands.
