ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES — selected storage and PCIe slots

An exact motherboard example: two M-key slots have CPU/chipset-dependent modes; M.2_2 shares resources with SATA6G_56, and physical x16 does not guarantee sixteen wired lanes.

M.2_1 (Key M)

The manual lists 2242/2260/2280/22110. Named Ryzen 5000/3000 desktop families use PCIe 4.0 x4; named 5000 G-Series/4000 G-Series families use PCIe 3.0 x4; SATA mode is also listed. Verify the exact CPU and firmware.

M.2_2 (Key M)

The manual lists 2242/2260/2280/22110 and PCIe 3.0 x4/SATA. Populating M.2_2 disables SATA6G_56; the note is not restricted to SATA-mode modules.

Physical x16, x4 mode with a population condition

PCIEX16_4 / PCIe 3.0 x16_4

The specification summary lists x4 mode, falling to x1 if any of x16_2, x16_3 or x16_5 is occupied. The layout uses PCIEX16_4. This is not the CPU-connected x16 slot.

SATA; unavailable when M.2_2 is populated

SATA6G_56 (ports 5 and 6)

Only this selected pair is documented here. The exact manual says the pair is disabled when M.2_2 is populated; this is not a universal SATA or M.2 rule.

Read before using the profile

  • This profile is not the similarly named PRIME B550-PLUS without the AC-HES suffix.
  • Selected internal groups only: other PCIe slots, SATA ports, power, USB, display, audio and network connectors are not inventoried here.
  • The manual’s processor-family conditions are retained; no current BIOS, boot qualification, actual throughput, compatibility approval or hardware testing is claimed.
  • Storage groups are informational and do not prefill a USB/display planner. Power off and follow the exact motherboard and drive service instructions.
