4-pole speakON loudspeaker connector

The four-pole speakON form requires a documented loudspeaker connection and wiring arrangement; it is not a mains connector.

Also called NL4 NL4FXX 4 pole speaker connector Speakon 4

Four poles do not specify an amplifier wiring mode.

Look for

Record the exact connector designation from the equipment manual and compare the housing keying; do not assume a mating or wiring arrangement.

Claim inspection dates: 2026-10-03, 2026-10-11 · Independent review pending

Application notes / Audio / P128

Does the two-to-four mating rule work in reverse?

FIELD NOTES 04

Not for the named NL2MPXX chassis example: Neutrik explicitly excludes a four-pole cable connector. Keep cable and chassis roles visible in any comparison.

Identify first

Read the part and the device.

Read pole count and cable/chassis role together.

Still unresolved

Keep this requirement open.

A different receptacle model or equipment wiring scheme is not covered by this exclusion.

Documented support · named example only

Does NL2FXX-W-S have a documented four-pole chassis mating path?

Yes, using +1/-1 according to Neutrik.

Boundary. Component mating only; this does not approve the connected amplifier/speaker circuit.

Next check. Check the equipment’s use of those contacts before connecting.

S102 · C127D (private workspace)

Explicit source exclusion · named example only

Does NL2MPXX accept a four-pole cable connector?

No: Neutrik explicitly excludes that combination.

Boundary. Do not reverse the separate NL2FXX-W-S two-to-four statement.

Next check. Identify a manufacturer-documented cable/chassis pair.

S496 · C128D (private workspace)

Before choosing an adapter or reader

  1. Copy the chassis part number.
  2. Check the cable-to-chassis direction in the manufacturer statement.
  3. Confirm the equipment circuit separately; do not force an unmatched connector.
Read the evidence and its scope · 4 observations

C128A (private workspace) — Neutrik NL4FXX-W-S is a four-contact speakON connector.

Identification and explicitly scoped documentation only; not an end-to-end connection approval

S103

C128B (private workspace) — Neutrik excludes use as an AC mains or power-supply connector.

Identification and explicitly scoped documentation only; not an end-to-end connection approval

S103

C128D (private workspace) — Neutrik explicitly excludes a four-pole cable connector from its NL2MPXX two-pole chassis connector.

Named chassis exclusion; the two-to-four cable/chassis relationship is not reciprocal.

S496

C127D (private workspace) — Neutrik NL2FXX-W-S is documented to mate with two-pole and four-pole chassis connectors, using contacts +1/-1.

Named two-pole cable connector mating statement. This is not four-circuit connectivity or approval of equipment wiring.

S102

Source interpretation is not independent engineering review, hardware testing, wiring advice or a public-release approval.

The useful distinction

Recognize it. Then verify it.

The four-pole speakON form requires a documented loudspeaker connection and wiring arrangement; it is not a mains connector. [C128A]

Neutrik excludes use as an AC mains or power-supply connector. [C128B]

Neutrik explicitly excludes a four-pole cable connector from its NL2MPXX two-pole chassis connector. [C128D]

What the status labels mean
Confirmed
Recorded research passes agree within this variant; this is not independent human review or hardware validation.
Single source
Only one underlying document, or one pass, supports this assignment.
Device-specific
Supported for the named equipment or wiring only. Check your device’s manual.
Unverified
Missing or conflicting evidence. Do not wire from this row.
Not connected
