Fiber question

Does a reversible LC uniboot prove the polarity of my link?

Keep a named cable’s factory mapping, its change mechanism and the actual end-to-end duplex path separate.

The answer

Short answer No. It shows the cable can be reversed, not how your whole link is wired right now.

No. Corning documents factory A–B polarity and an A–A change option for the cited Reverse Polarity Uniboot Duplex series. That describes the series, not the present state of a used cable or the combined mapping through panels and other cords.

Why the simple answer is not enough

Keep the evidence layers separate

1Reasoning step

The selected source describes two fibers in one cable and a tool-free change mechanism. That evidence is attached only to the named Corning series.

2Reasoning step

Do not transfer its factory mapping or change procedure to the separate LC PC OM4 Jumper in a Box option.

3Reasoning step

For a conventional two-fiber duplex link, the end-to-end path must connect each transmitter to the remote receiver. A cord’s label is only one contribution to that path.

4Reasoning step

The source’s “flipped” and “straight through” wording is retained in its own context. Those words are not promoted into a universal mapping rule for other manufacturers or MPO systems.

Scroll horizontally on narrow screens. These are documented product-family examples, not a verdict about the cable, adapter or equipment in front of you.

What to check next

  1. Identify the actual series and the manufacturer’s polarity markings.
  2. Check whether the cord has been changed since delivery.
  3. Trace both fibers through every cord, coupler and panel using the relevant documentation and appropriate test procedures.
  4. Do not inspect polarity by looking into a transmitting port or fiber.

They reorganize facts and uncertainty already represented in the atlas. Exact-device, cable, protocol, power, safety and performance requirements remain separate where the evidence says they are separate.
