The answer

Short answer Only with an active converter. DVI-D carries no analog video, so a passive adapter cannot feed a VGA input.

What you need

The cable or adapter class

  • DVI-D source to VGA display only; the source does not establish reverse VGA-to-DVI conversion.

Before you buy

What must be true

  • Active DVI-D to VGA video conversion; audio is explicitly unsupported. Operating-limit entries disagree.
  • USB is documented for power, not for video or general data transport.

Watch out

Direction and exact products matter

Connectors that fit do not prove a connection works. Check that the exact cable or adapter is documented for DVI-D → VGA, and that both devices support what you need.
