Read the explanation before reducing the list.
Shape, broad outline and family are editorial filters. Text search includes aliases, summaries and family names as well as titles; a text match is not a verified physical marking. Count and coupling clues use only normalized evidence already in the atlas.
Unresolved clue retained
This means a selected clue has no normalized evidence for this scope for that candidate, and your unknowns setting keeps it visible. It does not mean the observed feature is present—or absent. Removing unknowns can hide a real candidate when the atlas lacks the relevant data.
Next observations use the complete filtered set.
The suggested fields divide documented values across every current candidate, including those beyond the first results page. Counts next to choices describe catalogue records, not probability. Suggested count and coupling choices keep unclassified records. No suggestion assigns a value automatically.
Read the nominal-count convention.
The meaning of a count belongs to the individual source-linked record. Housing positions, installed contacts and optical channels cannot be assumed interchangeable. Open the count convention; original drawings are illustrative, not measurement tools.
The tray is separate from the filters.
Select two or three candidates to compare their documented distinctions without losing the current observations. A selected candidate outside the current filter is clearly labeled. Curated comparisons are linked only when their record IDs overlap the selection; wider or partial comparisons disclose that scope.
A useful next reference is not evidence inheritance.
Cable pages share a documented endpoint. Exact-device examples show differing roles on that particular model. Neither establishes the capabilities of your cable, device or physical item. Read the source scope and exact-model documentation.
No-result recovery is deliberate.
Each recovery button previews one filter removal or an unknowns allowance. No filter changes until you choose it. When one change is insufficient, reset observations instead of forcing an identification.
Local state and safety
Observations and the comparison tray are encoded in the page URL; anyone receiving that URL can read them. Nothing is uploaded or automatically saved to inventory. Avoid entering private device identifiers. Never trial-fit, probe, disassemble or inspect live or optical contacts to resolve uncertainty.
