Applies to: Nikon Z8 current Reference Guide, MC-CF660G 660GB, OWC Atlas Dual CFexpress+SD reader and Mac mini M4 front USB-C data path; documentation synthesis, not a tested chain.
- data
- Z8 Type B slot → MC-CF660G → OWC Atlas Dual Type B slot → integrated USB-C data cable → Mac mini front USB10Gbps → verified backup
- power
- Camera battery; reader USB bus power.
- video
- N-RAW/ProRes RAW file recording, not a USB display mode.
What the path requires
- Check exact camera firmware and complete recording-mode requirements.
- Use OWC reader Type B slot; XQD support is not inferred.
- OWC documents simultaneous TypeB+SD ingest, but aggregate USB and destination limits remain.
A recommendation stays source scoped
The named Nikon recommendation is not an assurance for every Type B generation/capacity. A reader's advertised maximum is not the minimum sustained camera-write requirement.
