VS221HD4KA: select one of two HDMI pictures

The VS221HD4KA routes two HDMI sources to one display with automatic, priority or manual selection. It does not share the computers’ USB keyboard, mouse or charging.

Applies to: Exact StarTech VS221HD4KA; maximum3840×2160 at30Hz, HDMI1.4/HDCP1.4 source scope. This is a different model from a4K60 switch.

Use the included ACadapter; the datasheet specifies12VDC output,1.5A, centre-positive. This is identification of the supplied adapter, not generic replacement-supply approval. Source and display keep their own supplies.

What the path requires

  • Two HDMI sources, one HDMI display and model-appropriate HDMI cables.
  • Choose manual, priority or automatic source-selection behavior.
  • Select a mode within the exact3840×2160 at30Hz ceiling; use exact EDID-copy instructions. The4K label does not establish60Hz.

A display identity can be retained by the switch

The manufacturer describes EDID emulation/copy. A stored capability set can affect what the source offers after a display changes. Compare the direct source/display result before changing any EDID configuration; do not invent unsupported timings.
