United States-style communications cable terms
UL describes communications cable types CMP (plenum), CMR (riser) and CM (general purpose) within its UL444 testing/certification service. These names answer different installation-space questions from Cat6A performance. Have the responsible installer check the applicable local requirements, exact product listing and route.

Nexans explains Declaration of Performance, reaction-to-fire Euroclasses and country-specific choices. A declaration describes product performance; local installation requirements still determine the permitted application. Do not translate a U.S. CMP label into a Euroclass or infer national acceptance from CE alone.

Low-smoke/zero-halogen wording does not by itself establish plenum, riser or a required national fire classification. The Belden shielded series is labelled LSZH while its sheet explicitly says indoor, not riser or plenum.

Do not treat EU, U.S. or historic UK-facing manufacturer wording as a current universal rule. Give a local qualified installer the product's current listing/declaration, intended route, building use, country and authority requirements. Exact regulatory acceptance remains outside this educational reference.

Supply the full SKU/length, current listing or DoP, whether the route is indoors/outdoors or an environmental air space, permanent versus temporary use, mechanical/environmental exposure and the installed-channel requirement. A cable seller's headline alone is insufficient.
