α7 IV S&Q: select media from the exact footnote

For ILCE-7M4 XAVC S-I 4K S&Q at the footnoted 60/50fps capture and 30/25/24p record case, Sony requires CFexpress Type A VPG200 or higher. An ordinary V90 SD comparison does not override that footnote.

Applies to: ILCE-7M4 Help Guide table/footnote2; exact Sony CEA-M960T Type A VPG200 card, MRW-G2, supplied C-to-C cable, Mac mini M4 front USB-C. Confirm current camera firmware against Sony's compatibility notice.

What the path requires

  • Confirm firmware and complete S&Q mode against current Sony table.
  • CEA-M960T is documented Type A VPG200; Sony names Alpha 7 IV in its compatibility context and directs current camera software. Match the complete mode and current firmware before recording.
  • Do not remove during camera/reader activity; copy and verify before erasing or reusing media.

Offload is a different limit

MRW-G2’s USB10Gbps interface is an upstream capability. It does not certify a recording card or promise sustained transfer to the chosen destination.

Your next useful observation

Record CEA-M960T identity, current camera firmware and both S&Q rate fields before recording.

Keep these limits

  • Exact CEA-M960T card support is manufacturer documentation; no independent card qualification test.
  • No firmware or hardware recording/offload test.
