Documented distinctions

How cable discovery works

Read the status, then the scope and conditions. A matching filter is not an engineering conclusion.

Start with one end or a pair

The first and second connector filters are unordered. Choosing the same form twice requires two ends of that form. A recognized form without a cable profile returns an honest empty result. This collection is not an exhaustive list of products or possible cables.

Filter status, not performance

Documented, conditional and not applicable remain different recorded values. None does not mean passive. A data field may describe a specific transport rather than a general USB data capability; read its detail. No speed, charging power, voltage or video mode is calculated.

Unknown inclusion is optional

When enabled, an unresolved value—unknown, not established or product-specific—can stay in the results alongside the exact selected status. Each affected card says why it remains unresolved. Not applicable and none are not unresolved. Source direction remains a separate field; the endpoint selectors never reverse a documented converter.

Compare scope before features

Class guidance does not certify a product. A certification-class description does not authenticate a cable you own. Exact-product evidence applies only to that documented example. Manufacturer-series evidence names a series but does not select a SKU, length, variant or inspected sample. Represented-path notes disclose grouped connections, separate audio, alternate paths and auxiliary power; two endpoint keys are not a full port inventory. The comparison preserves all six field details, claim links, sources, direction details and explicit unknowns; it does not score or recommend a winner.

Recover deliberately

An empty result does not prove a cable cannot exist. One-filter recovery buttons show actual result counts before changing the filter. Reset filters retains the tray; Clear tray removes it. Malformed URL filters and selections are rejected visibly, not silently replaced with broader results.

Share a view, not a verdict

The route query records current filters and up to three selected public catalogue profiles. It contains no saved inventory data. In the standalone preview, the recipient needs the same HTML file. No data is submitted or automatically stored. Parameters do not certify current evidence or device compatibility.
